yes, using the shampoo is fine, however make sure that you condition as well.
also, do not wash your hair with shampoo every day, it strips your hair of its natural moisture and this is definetely not a good thing for color-treated hair.
the reason the color turned brown is that the mixture of brown, blonde, and your natural hair color sometimes create a funky new color.
