How much do you tip a hair dresser for side bangs?

Well im getting my bangs cut and im going by myself to get them done and my parents never told me how much to tip the hair dresser! so how much would you tip a hair dresser just for bangs?!

As a stylist I would like to go ahead and tell you how we really feel about this.

ok no you are paying for the salons time not hers. and if you act like that you will get really short ugly bangs (not by me but its not wise to piss off a woman cutting your hair) I worked with a gal that ';accidentally'; waxed off this lil snots eyebrow.... oops. I'm not saying that I do it but you tip your waitress right? what happens if you don't, you get spit or other bodily fluids in your food.

Also common sense would to do some research. What we do is provide a service but we appreciate you showing us that we did a good job, you like a pat on the back right?

when you do something right you like to be told so right? As a stylist I know how many girls LIVE off of our tips because out of the $8 to cut your fringe we get $1.25. add a 20% tip on that and we will remember you and bend over backwards for you next time you come in and if you continue to see us we give you really good discounts!

I have a gal that tips me $1 every week to do her hair and I'm not sure the last time I charged her for it.

The customary guideline for tipping for a personal service (hair, nails, facial) is 20%, more if the service is exceptional, less if the service is sub-par. In addition, the owner is not customarily tipped.
I tip the hairdresser 15% - 20% of the whole bill, unless somebody else washes my hair. I tip them separately and reduce the hairdresser's tip by that amount.

I always give them at least $4 because most hair stylists have to stand all day with little breaks and don't make that much money.
I would say $2..after all bangs are quick and really simple for them
