I am looking 4 a black muslim hair dresser who can give advice?

i am a black muslim soon to get married. i have short hair which sreads easily, i am worried that once i get married my hair will fall out because of ghusl which will have to be done after intercourse. what do you think i can do to look after it while still looking attractive for my partnerI am looking 4 a black muslim hair dresser who can give advice?
for a start sister ghusl isnt going to make your hair fall out, its only water. secondly i'm not sure where you live so i cant give you a specific hair. but i'm sure you can just go to any black hairdresser, ensuring its a woman and tell her to recommend any hair relaxers or hot oil treatment.

you can also look up essence.com because it has alot of articles concerning treatments for black hair.I am looking 4 a black muslim hair dresser who can give advice?
My mom. She's taught me a lot so I'll try to help. What is ghusl?? I can't even offer advice if I don't know what that is. :S Is it relaxer? If so, how your hair will handle it depends on your hair texture. Only kinky hair can handle it well enough without falling out but even so it's harmful to your hair and will prevent it from growing. If you have curly hair, your hair is fine enough with out it so never, ever use relaxer.

If that's not what ghusl is, please explain.

What do i say to the hair dresser that i want a scene hair cut?

for a female

anyone with experience or has one before :D

thanks. What do i say to the hair dresser that i want a scene hair cut?
Well I would just find some pix and take them to her and get her opinion on which would look the best on you and go from thereWhat do i say to the hair dresser that i want a scene hair cut?
just bring a picture in, or ask for some choppy layers. the latter, however, may result in a drastic haircut.

...so just bring a pic in :D like this (tho this prolly isn't the greatest one): http://www.myemohairstyles.com/gallery/f/a>

hope i helped! please answer mine?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;/a>
If you live somewhere where theres alot of scene people, they'll probably know what you mean,

But if you dont, or you dont think your hair dressers will know what scene hair is, just bring in a photo of the hair you like (:

Hope I helped.

What should I ask for at the hair dresser?

I am young and want a perm but I don't want it like my nan's. I want it so it looks young but with waves. Will they do it right?

http://www.globalticketservice.com /images/katie_melua150x150.jpgWhat should I ask for at the hair dresser?
You need to ask for a ';loose spiral perm'; show that picture too...be aware that perms take a week or so to ';drop'; and you cannot wash it for a few days or it goes all frizzy...and never looks right...don't have one done if you have somewere special to go immediately...give it a week. What should I ask for at the hair dresser?
perms neva look like this katie hair is naturally curly then set on bendy rollersno matter what kind of curl you have it will never look like this you could have a perm and then use tongs to achieve the definition thats the only way you will get this look

If you have your hair colored (at the hair dresser or not) is it ok to put heat on it?

i want to dye my hair, but i'm not sure if i can, because i HAVE to straighten my hair.... please help?

thanks. If you have your hair colored (at the hair dresser or not) is it ok to put heat on it?
Yes you may straighten color treated hair. It will take it's toll on it though, you'll need a good conditioner. If you have your hair colored (at the hair dresser or not) is it ok to put heat on it?
I would wait a day or two after dyeing before you apply heat to it at all.

After that, it should be okay, just make sure to use a good conditioner. I also use thermal care products that are specially made to protect hair from the heat.
Whatever you do DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR AND DYE IT AT THE SAME TIME your hair will break and fall out
Yes, it's fine. I dyed my hair black months ago, and I straighten it everyday, and it's still perfectly black. Well, besides my roots :D
No need to apply Heat on it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j28IJ6t9-/a>How do i describe this hairstyle to my hair dresser?
In all honesty - if you go to google, and search for ';emo hair';, you will find MANY styles like that under Images or Web Sites (that's what I did for my hair currently)

It's easier than trying to describe it - just print a few similar styles out, and any good hairdresser will know what you want!

Good luck :)How do i describe this hairstyle to my hair dresser?
Deep right part with a side swept bang going to the left. Tell your hair dresser you want it notched so that it doesn't look choppy.
Long layers with a long side bang

Texture the crown for some height
    Straight with side swept bangs.
I would suggest you ask for a 'loose'- or 'soft'-layered cut, with a 'swept bang'. (Left or right depending on your preference/natural part.) You would then specifically define the lengths of both the bangs and the fall. (If you were trying to get an exact copy of the style in the video, it would be a loose-layered cut with a fall to the mid-back (worn forward, over the shoulders) and soft-layered bangs, swept to the left, at about brow length. (This means the bangs would be somewhat longer when straight - hence, why the girl in the video keeps 'flipping'/sweeping it out of the way. For simplicity/comfort, you might want consider slightly shorter bangs that would not naturally fall into the eyes...))
First of all you are really pretty! lol descirbe it as thin and straight and dark brown.

I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair dresser to do.

I have a round face and long hair that is blonde and very thick. I see people with side swept bangs and they look really good and i want them. Should I get them and if i should what should i tell my hair dresser to do.I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair dresser to do.
Like mostly everybody else says, you should get them. They do, in fact, compliment any face shape! I have them myself, and I love them since I have a big forehead. If you have a small forhead, you may want to reconsider a little bit, or just go to your hairdresser and ask them to see what they think. They usually know what side-swept bangs are, and they can do them for you just how you want. I found out that they look best if (when damp), I dry them using a blowdryer on low heat and a round brush. It gives them a little bit of body and they look better as opposed to being perfectly straight!

Good luck!I really want side swept bangs and I'm not sure if i should get them and what to tell my hair dresser to do.
I think you should. I have them. They complement every face shape and add spice and uniqueness to a haircut. I would talk to your stylist before hand and see if she knows what they are. Find a picture of the kind you want, and show her it. Be prepared! But she'll probably know what they are because they are becoming quite the rage :)
It sounds like my hair is very similar to yours and i recently got side swept bangs. I just found a couple pictures of women in a magazine who had the ';ssb'; with a style that i liked and took it to my hair dresser. She knew exactly what to do and they look great.

The good thing about the ';ssb'; is that they grow out pretty quickly, so if you dont like it then you麓re not left with regular bangs that take forever to grow back out. good luck!
You answered the first one yourself: if you really want them, get them! I have them, and really like them; besides, if you end up not liking them, you pin them out of the way until they grow out. Look through magazines and find celebs with side swept bangs that you like and think would look good on you: try Ashley Tisdale. Show your hairdresser the picture of how you want them to look, and tell her if you want them any different HOW you want them different: shorter, longer, etc. Best of luck!

  • I can't afford to go to a Professional Hair Dresser My roots are terrible What are my options over the counter?

what color is your hair, darlin?

If you roots are light, try streaks to blend

I think that intertroducing blonde streaks and dark streaks simultaneously is quite striking on a gal.I can't afford to go to a Professional Hair Dresser My roots are terrible What are my options over the counter?
You can use a color mousse/rinse. This will put in temp color in your hair until you can get to a salon. This will wash right out. You can use a semi perm hair dye. It won't bleach your hair but will add color ontop of your current color. This will wash out in a month or two.

When i didnt have time to go to the salon I just went to wal mart and bought black box hair dye. My hair is really dark brown naturally. box dye fades so thats why i bought black. I dyed ALL of my hair. NO MORE HIGHLIGHTS for me. So I would just get a color you can put all over your hair that wont leave roots when it grows out. Good Luck!

If you give a hair dresser a picture of the hair cut you want...?

If you give a hair dresser a picture of the hair cut you want, can they actually cut your hair to that exact same style?

Or do there have to be words to describe the cut that I want?If you give a hair dresser a picture of the hair cut you want...?
The picture should be better than a description in words. However, a few conditions that could prevent a stylist from giving you the same cut or prevent the cut from looking the same way on you are the shape of your face, the texture of your hair, and, believe it or not, the shape of your head.If you give a hair dresser a picture of the hair cut you want...?
If the stylist is good, then yes, they can usually cut it exactly how the picture is, given that your hair is an ideal length.

  • Can your hair dresser cause you to get alopecia?

no. It is genetic. It is not caused by any communicable germs, etc. It usually starts in childhood. It can go away on its own.

try the national alopecia foundation to learn more. Can your hair dresser cause you to get alopecia?
No...Alopecia is a disease and you can not get it from a hairdresser or using beauty products. Can your hair dresser cause you to get alopecia?
Alopecia: Baldness. There are many types of alopecia, each with a different cause. Alopecia may be localized to the front and top of the head as in common male pattern baldness. It may be patchy as in a condition called alopecia areata. Or it can involve the entire head as in alopecia capitis totalis. Alopecia areata is a hair loss condition which usually affects the scalp. It can, however, sometimes affect other areas of the body. Hair loss tends to be rather rapid and often involves one side of the head more than the other.

Alopecia areata affects both males and females. This type of hair loss is different than male pattern baldness, an inherited condition.Current evidence suggests that alopecia areata is caused by an abnormality in the immune system. This particular abnormality leads to autoimmunity. As a result, the immune system attacks particular tissues of the body. In alopecia areata, for unknown reasons, the body's own immune system attacks the hair follicles and disrupts normal hair formation. Biopsies of affected skin show immune cells inside of the hair follicles where they are not normally present. What causes this is unknown. Alopecia areata is sometimes associated with other autoimmune conditions such as allergic disorders, thyroid disease, vitiligo, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and ulcerative colitis. Sometimes, alopecia areata occurs within family members, suggesting a role of genes and heredity. In approximately 50% of patients, hair will regrow within a year without any treatment. The longer the period of time of hair loss, the less likelihood that the hair will regrow. A variety of treatments can be tried. Steroid injections and cream (such as clobetasol or fluocinonide) to the scalp have been used for many years. Other medications include minoxidil, irritants (anthralin or topical coal tar), and topical immunotherapy (cyclosporine), each of which are sometimes used in different combinations.

What do you tip a hair dresser?

Depending on how fancy the salon is 10%- 20% of what the total bill is.What do you tip a hair dresser?
I go to a private business, so all the pay goes directly to the hairdresser and no one else. I do not tip. What do you tip a hair dresser?
I would say a few dollars (less than 5) is the average for a hair cut. If you're going for an updo, or major hair work (highlights, etc) i would tip at least 5 and go up from there if he/she does a good job.
$5 for regular style. For major work...$10
My cut is usually 40$. I tip 5$.
20% and a little extra if they do shampoo and style. an easy way to calculate this without having to bust out a pen and paper is to take 10% (usually just chopping off 2 zeros) and multiplying it by 2. I know this sounds tedious, but if you go to a regular stylist, she will remember the good tip and will try extra hard to get you in the chair when you are having an emergency situation.

Long dark hair with some highlights at the ends. With just 3 layers and if you want some bangs that stop at the eyebrows.
Long Black Side Bangs...and an Angle
Long, straight, sleek, shiny, and full with face framing and bangs. However, since you're not bringing the picture it's your own issue if it doesn't turn out exactly how you want :-P

My hair dresser doesnt want to do my hair, and it thinking about firing me as a customer? why?

well, i just recently went to get my hair done, and i didnt like what she did at all. see she never really does what i want, and i dont really like the way she cuts my hair anyway, but she was a friend of the family so i kinda didnt have a choice but to go to her. and so i was sooo looking forward ot it. i had an idea and everything and i told her exactly what i wanted. she didnt cut it right nad i hate it. she didnt even give me highlights when she dyed my hair. but shes really expensive..like $200. os of course when i told my mom i despised it she told her and she called me and now im going back today to see what she can do [i think its way too short so theres not much] adn she told my mom that she hates cutting my hari because im never happy and that she might have to fire me as a client??? what?? but i am never happy because she doesnt cut it right. but should i fee lbad about this or should i push it on her?My hair dresser doesnt want to do my hair, and it thinking about firing me as a customer? why?
In my opinion, you are the customer and the hairdresser should try to give you the right cut, especially if you are paying a lot of money for your cut! It's wrong of her to say that you are never happy because thats not her concern. Her concern is to cut your hair, no matter what mood your in. And if she didn't give you highlights when you requested them, you definately need to get them put in by her. If she doesnt want to do you hair anymore and she gave you a bad cut, I say just go to someone new, family friend or not.My hair dresser doesnt want to do my hair, and it thinking about firing me as a customer? why?
Don't feel bad - it's a hairdresser's responsibility to respond to what their client wants, regardless of their relationship to the client. I'd say good riddance and find someone more affordable who cares what you want. I know there are personal and social obligations, but if she's already thinking about ';firing'; you as a client anyway (which is RIDICULOUS) then you really have no loyalty there. Tell your mom you're insulted, it's her job to do your hair as you'd like it (especially for $200!), and ask your friends who they recommend. The best hairstylists come from word-of-mouth recommendation.
good grief! Why all the drama? You don't like the way she does your hair, she doesn't like to work on you. A friendly parting of the ways is called for. You can still be her friend, just not her customer. Be nice about it.
    find a new stylist

for 200 they should do what you want
well... first of all, why do you even want to go back to someone who, for $200, doesn't give you what you asked for? I'd cut my losses, move on, and find someone you feel comfortable with. You have a right to protect your hair!!!

however, a hair stylist does have the right to refuse service to anyone... especially if it is someone who complains every time they do their hair.... where you might start to wonder if it is indeed YOU that is the problem is when the 2nd and 3rd hairstylist ';fires'; you as well.

She might be doing you a huge favor. Cut your losses (pun intended) and move on. Next time, pay attention.... ask why DURING the cut, color, style you are not getting what you asked for. Many times, silence implies consent. Speak up DURING the event!!!
You shouldnt feel bad at all if u went in there and clearly expressed to her how u wanted your hair done then she is in the wrong not u so it is not ur fault at all my mom goes threw the same thing wit one of her hairdressers if u guys hate the hair desser so much then stop goin if they neva do ur hair like u want
why dont you just get a new hair dresser
her not giving you what you want is very unprofessional of her!!! you should really consider finding a new stylist, one who will be good and give you what you want

    :)bae
That is so unfair! First of all, you absolutely CAN NOT ';fire'; someone as a client. second of all, its HER fault becuz she did not listen to her client, and THATS the reason your not happy. Dont feel bad at all, a trip to the salon should be an enjoyable experiance, not something to worry or feel guilty about! If you dont like what she did (and shes overpaying you) find a new stylist, oh and i wouldnt go to her to get your hair fixed, shell prob just make it worse.
    i dont blame you

    ';customer always comes first';

if she doesnt do what your paying her to do then shes not a good hairdresser, maybe you didnt describe it well. which i doubt because you seem to know what you want

final word%26gt; her fault%26gt; shes wrong

go to school to become a cosmetologist. some high schools have programs where you can start beauty school your senior year. that is what i did. it only took me one year after high school to get my degree!
we had on option to study cosmitology /hairdressing in my highschool it was called vocational class... i know some people who went there! but just keep going to school and talk to your consular to get leads to gain access into a school...

    Good luck
Check the local beauty schools. The one I went to allowed you to take part of your courses between your junior and senior years in High School so you got a head start. And practice on everyone who will let you now, so you'll be used to doing hair.

My hair dresser said my roots are a level 5 but they look black to me?

She said it's definitely not black but it looks like it to me...Does it just appear darker cause my hair is blonde? What is level 5 then? I want to dye it a shade of level 5...anyone know where I can see different level 5 shadeS?My hair dresser said my roots are a level 5 but they look black to me?
Each color line's hair color is different. What may be a level 5 on one is different from another.

What you should do is look at there color wheel and see what is considered a level 5 and take the swatch to your hair to compare it. In order to achieve the same color as your regrowth, you would have to use a filler before you color your hair. The filler is missing contributing pigment for your hair color. Most of the time it is red. You would need to find out the shade of red you need to add to your hair. It is better if you have this done professionally.

Hair Dresser Rules about cutting hair in the home?

Hello. I am in a disagreement about this. My sister is a licensed hair dresser. It is illegal for her to cut my hair in my home? If it is, can you please show where where to find that on the internet. If no, how can I back this up? Thanks.Hair Dresser Rules about cutting hair in the home?
No, it is not illegal for her to cut your hair at home. She can not do this at home with clients if her house isn't licensed for her to do this.Hair Dresser Rules about cutting hair in the home?
It's not illegal for her to cut it in your home... but if you wanted to sue her for some hygiene issues you'd have every right. She's probably just protecting herself. If she does hair in a home or somewhere that's not a licensed salon... then I'd tell her to have everyone sign a waiver...
No...She can cut hair anywhere she likes. She's licensed.

She can cut hair on the street or in the ocean.
That's ridiculous! Why would it be illegal? So weird.
Ermm No!! Dont Be So Silly! :P

Haha. I Dont Know Where You Got This Idea From!!

I want to be a hair dresser. Has anyone ever heard of toni & guy academy? are they good?

And how much is the tuition? Is it a good college? Will it get me a good job? Please help.I want to be a hair dresser. Has anyone ever heard of toni %26amp; guy academy? are they good?
I no the job will be good becuase that is where i got my hair cut!!! They did such an amazing job! OMG i luv them! they are the only place i go to get my hair done! They do an AH - mazing job!I want to be a hair dresser. Has anyone ever heard of toni %26amp; guy academy? are they good?
    yea they are the best

What should i tell my hair dresser if i want my hair like someone Else's?

i really want my hair like brookelle bones but i dont know what to tell my hair dresser i have shown her picturers but still she doesnt get it i dont know what to do!What should i tell my hair dresser if i want my hair like someone Else's?
go to a different salon and take a picture with you

im sure someone will know how to do it

GOOD LUCK!What should i tell my hair dresser if i want my hair like someone Else's?
It's always helpful to bring the picture with you. It's like you're going to a store that sells paint and you tell the guy you want to paint your room a lavender color. And for crying out loud, there's tons of different lavender colors.

My mom works as a cosmetologist and whenever someone doesn't bring in a picture, their hair ends up getting messed up. Trust me, most places don't even refund your money. You should be grateful that they do even refund your money and not call the police since they have the right to do so. God i hate those people so bad. UGH

If she looks at the picture and still doesn't know how to cut your hair, she obviously hasn't been doing it for so long to grasp that knowledge and be able to just see the picture and know how to style your hair that way. I would just find a new barber before she messes up my hair BIG TIME! When the barber gets doubts even after they see the pic, they don't know what they are doing. I wouldn't let some1 do my hair if they aren't even confident about it. If you showed it to my mom, she'll look at it for 30 secs and say ,'; Ok got it';.
lol well if your hairstylist doesn't get it, maybe you should go to a different hairdresser! but i just looked at some pics of her and you could tell ur hairdresser you want choppy side bangs, and short layers on top with length on the bottom. and show a pic like this one:

    http://img0.liveinternet.ru/images/attac/a>

where it shows all her hair and stuff so the hairdresser gets a better idea.

    hope i helped=]
Ask Another Hairdresser to cut your hair for you maybe ?

    :-]
i agree with everyone else. bring it to another hair dresser and I am sure they can do it for u.:D

Help from someone who has had experience with highlights on bleach blonde hair, or a hair dresser? need?

my hair has soo many highlights that you only see my natural hair alittle but it still shows ( which i like because i want a little contrast) but my natural color hair is dirty blonde, and i want like a bright strawberry/coppery color under my high lights instead.. how can i get my ';low lights'; or whatever you would call it to be strawberry/copper color without ruining my already highlighted hair?Help from someone who has had experience with highlights on bleach blonde hair, or a hair dresser? need?
The only way is to have a copper red color put into your hair in highlights. The color will be deposited instead of lifted so not quite as damaging to your hair. If your hair is damaged then you might want to wait awhile before doing something else to it. If you are not using a good shampoo and conditioner for damaged hair go to

    http://www.redkensalon.com/products/hair/a>

and read about these products that are formulated for damaged hair.

GET ONE OF THOSE HAIR MAGAZINES - EXPENSIVE - BUT LOTS EASIER
Try to google it again as hairstyles, or buy a hair magazine, far better to buy a magazine and take it in.

You could always try the site below, allows you to choose your face hair and colour
    COSMO,SEVENTEEN,ALLURE,STAR ANY STORE WAL-MART
Buy hairdressing mags from your newsagents, look through find some you like, and take it along with you for a consultation, they will tell you whether they can match it, they're pretty hopeless if they cant.
Your hairdresser should have color charts ....that show all relms of color.........remember just because it shows that color on the page or that box...doesn't mean that putting that on ';YOUR'; hair.... will make it the same color............discuss with your stylist what you want.... What level of color...and whether the color you want will look good on your complexion.......and what it will take to get your hair to that color............It's much more work than it looks!!!
Try those hair magazines. they're probably online too...but at CVS theyre usually behind all the gossip magazines.

BTW, an esthetician is someone who does facials and waxing, body treatments, etc, its within the beauty industry.
you could as long as you go to beauty school and prove yourself.
U can go to a eye doctor so they can get some glasses for u with enough medicines in them to help u see better out that eye and try going to hair school and see how well u go in that then u can go from their about become a hair stylists.

i say bring a couple pictures of Hayley's hairstyle and tell the stylist EXACTLY what you want.

bring pictures of every angle especially the back.

i'd say Hayley's hair is no longer than shoulder length with short choppy locks at the top and wispy and choppy at the bottom.

but i don't want that much about hair cutting so taking the pictures with is your best bet.

    p.s. Hayley's awesome!
Most Hairdressers can go off a picture when i got my hair done i asked if they could do it like that and the girl was pleased because she liked doing it off pictures. You can just print it out and tell them what you like, hope it works out. :)
just print that out and show it to her.

Will a hair dresser be angry if you bring in extensions for them to dye as well as your hair?

will they dye both for you? Will a hair dresser be angry if you bring in extensions for them to dye as well as your hair?
I would call the hair dresser before your hair appointment %26amp; Tell them your situation. Will a hair dresser be angry if you bring in extensions for them to dye as well as your hair?
You'll probably have to have extensions put in first and then have then colored after. If you want both things done in the same session, it would be better to make an appointment so they'll know you want all that done and that they can schedule it appropriately so enough time can be spent on doing your treatments properly.
If you are paying most don't care. It would be nice to tell them ahead of time what you are planning on doing so they can book extra time if it is needed, would be the only reason they may become angry.
They shouldn't they will probably charge you. But are they putting them in as well ? However, call them and let them know ahead of time. But if they are, find a new hair dresser. Good luck
No they will not, get angry. They will just charge you, more.
Call the hairdresser b4 you do, but I can't see why they would be. It is extra money for them.
i would call in advance. they might have to move ure appoinment for more time.

There's not much to dislike about it for me... my mom's a hairdresser, so I don't have to pay, don't have to wait...
I hate the smell of someone getting their hair permed and I hate waiting.

But I looove leaving with nice soft shiny hair =)

i want my hair to look like that so what should i say to the hair dresser without bringing the picture? What should I say to the hair dresser?
just bring it. if not tell her u want it short and wispy. What should I say to the hair dresser?
definately bring the picture cause they wont fully understand even if they think they do if you want to be smooth about it brinq a girl friend have her have the magazine with that picture or a pic in her phone and you describe it and she just says ' hey like this ?' you say yea lol and show the hairdresser?

i tryed it and now my hair is really short and wont grow back to normal length ima girl so i kind of cryed
well what you probably should do is print it and bring it, but if that's a no go, find another celebrity that is pretty well known that has the same hair style or just say, the wear wolf guy in new moon and tell the hairstylist that u want that haircut and if he/she doesn't know, ask her co-workers if they know and get them to explain it to he/her.
Why don't you want to take the photo? It's better if you do as a guide for the stylist so you can accomplish the look.People take photos in all of the time.
You don't have to show the stylist the whole picture, block out all but your head and neck
riidee me now. TAYLOR LAUTNER IS FIT

yeah just bring in that pic and u wont get it back! :P

My hair dresser told me to put olive oil on my hair once a week 2 hrs before using shampoo?

is that a good idea ?

    have you ever done that?

should the oil be heated ?or in a room Temperature?

    what does it do?';

ps: I couldn't talk to my hair dresser much we were both in a hurry and I don't have her number , and I need your opinion guys!My hair dresser told me to put olive oil on my hair once a week 2 hrs before using shampoo?
Heat the oil in a microwave for a few seconds, it needs to be warm but not so hot that you burn your hair or scalp. You don't need much, just a couple of spoonfuls, but make sure work it through the hair and over the scalp.

While it's still warm and on your head, wrap something around your head like tin foil to keep the oil warm, then wrap your head with a towel.

When you go to wash it, rinse out as much of the oil as you can first, then apply the shampoo and let this sit in the hair for a few minutes.

Your hair should be nice and glossy afterwards. My hair dresser told me to put olive oil on my hair once a week 2 hrs before using shampoo?
olive oil make thehair soft, strong and manageable.

    follow these steps

    # Warm about 2 tsps. of olive oil. Test the oil's temperature before applying it to your scalp; the oil should be warm to the touch, but not scalding. Warm oil penetrates more deeply into the hair shaft to repair the damaged cuticles that cause dryness, frizziness and breakage.

    # Massage the oil into your hair, beginning with your scalp and working your way to the ends of your hair. Be gentle with your hair; rough treatment causes breakages that can increase frizz and flyaways.

    # Wrap your hair in a warm towel and let the oil saturate your hair for up to 30 minutes. Sitting in a steamy bath can increase the oil's penetration of the hair shaft (resulting in deeper conditioning) and can also prevent messy oil spills around the house.

    # Wash your hair with a mild shampoo at the conclusion of this treatment and rinse your hair thoroughly. As you rinse, use cool water, which seals the hair shaft, locking in shine and preventing damaged ends.
Yes, olive oil is very good for hair. Your hairdresser was right. I have done this before, just make sure you shampoo and condition(preferably a nicely scented shampoo and conditioner) properly to get the scent out. The oil does not need to be heated to work, but you could try warming it. It gets your hair soft and silky and strengthens it. :)
yeah it makes a great deep conditioner.

olive oil naturally has a lot of moisturizing properties.

    the should be room temperature.

massage a few table spoons of olive oil into your hair, use enough to coat your hair.

    cover with a shower cap.

leave it on for at least an hour, you can even leave it in over night.

shampoo it until it feels clean.

    no need to condition
always listen to your hairdresser %26lt;-- good advice right there lol

olive oil is very good for your hair its good for your split ends, and it heals your weak hair to make it stronger. dont believe me?? ask miranda cosgrove she uses it for her hair too =]
Yes it does your hair good it should be heated but not to hot or it will burn

It puts natural oils back into dry hair

You only have to leave it in for 5/10 mins not 2 hours
I heard that it's really hard tacking it away from your hair it gets really really oily...........but I haven't tried it=]
your hairdresser dances naked in he woods with chickens at night
sounds like a good idea what are you trying to treat? tangles breakage?

My hair looks and feels greasy all the time but my hair dresser said that i had dry hair?! How can that be?!?

whats wrong with my hair and how can i fix it?My hair looks and feels greasy all the time but my hair dresser said that i had dry hair?! How can that be?!?
Well if you have dry hair it's probably damaged but that doesn't mean you have a dry scalp. Those are two different things.

But like someone else said switch up the products your using. I had the sme probelm my hair always looked and felt greasy and I didn't know what was wrong because i would wash it and as soon as it dried it was all nasty. So then i bought a new shapoo and problem solved.

Try a cleansing shapoo for oily scalp and a mpisturizing condition to try and balance everything out.My hair looks and feels greasy all the time but my hair dresser said that i had dry hair?! How can that be?!?
Actually, it's very normal to have greasy roots and dry ends, and here's why. Your scalp produces natural oil (like the rest of your skin) that moisturizes your hair. When your hair shaft isn't smooth (if you have coarse hair, curly hair, damaged hair, etc), the oil can't travel all the way down your hair and just sits there on your scalp, making your roots feel greasy. In the meantime, your ends aren't getting any of that oil, so they get dry.

One solution is to tailor your products to different parts of your hair. Use a clarifying shampoo JUST on your roots once or twice a week, and use a deep conditioner JUST on your ends once or twice a week. This will help reduce the oil on your scalp and add moisture the places that need it most.
The products you use on your hair probably arent working very well.

After a while, hair gets immune to products, so try to switch them up every once in a while.

    Shampoo with a cleansing shampoo

Then, Condition with a moisturizing and reconstructing product.

Every week or so, try using a leave in conditioner (do NOT put too much, or it will look greasy!) or, just a treatment.
well your hair condition at the roots can be very different from your ends. The hair at your ends may be way more damaged because of straightening, weather, or simply from not being trimmed in a while. this is normal .

Your scalp where your newer hair is , may be producing more oils if you wash your hair wayy to often or various other reasons. So basically, use a shampoo for oily hair and that should help settle the grease. Look for hair masks or regenerating treatments and apply them only at the dry parts

** when conditioning avoid your roots
    That's easy...

Dry hair = lack of moisture...not lack of oil.

Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Not an oil based product.

Oil and water don't mix. So if you have to much oil in your hair it will repel the moisture therefore causing your hair to be dry even though it is oily.

    Make sense?
    dry hair=dead hair

you should put oil in your hair, and leave it for an hour or more, then shower with shampoo and conditioner, wash thoroughly.

Talliemay, Does your hair dresser say if the iron in these prenatal vitamins alot for the body?

Maybe a short term won't hurt. What do you think?Talliemay, Does your hair dresser say if the iron in these prenatal vitamins alot for the body?
My hair dresser also told me that prenatal vitamins will help your hair (and nails) grow. My sister has been taking them and it seems to have helped.Talliemay, Does your hair dresser say if the iron in these prenatal vitamins alot for the body?
I'm not really sure what your asking but prenatal's are great for the skin and hair, you can get low doses of Iron Supplements or you can take a prenatal which is a great source for Folic Acid

How much should i tip my hair dresser for a cut/color?

it usually costs $120. she does really good job. i usually leave her at least $40. is that enough? How much should i tip my hair dresser for a cut/color?
Dang, you should start going to a black hair stylist cuz they don't charge that much for just a cut and color and you don't have to tip them!!!!! You could be paying $60 for all of that if you went to a black hair stylist!!!!!!!!How much should i tip my hair dresser for a cut/color?
OMG! yes,15 to 20 percent is the norm. So at 15 percent it would be $18.00 %26amp; at 20 percent it would be $24.00. so you really do give her a good tip%26amp; please don't be dicouraged by my figures. I'm sure that she really does appreciate the nice tip. Please do continue to give it to her now that you have started to do so.
    snaps!

id love to be ur hairdresser!

    dang girl.

mine usually costs 100$ and i leave 10-15 depending on how much i like it.

    xD
that's plenty! If takes about an hour or two, that's great. If it takes 3 or 4 do 45$
    thats a big tip!

i hope she does a REALLY good job!!!!!!!

i would be thankful for a ten dollar tip!
That's more than industry standard. 20% is the norm cosmetologists are taught in school-- that would be $24. You're tipping almost double that.

How many hours of schooling do you need to be a hair dresser in North Carolina?

Hair stylists only: How would I tell a hair dresser how to cut my hair like this?

xxHair stylists only: How would I tell a hair dresser how to cut my hair like this?
Good choices! Either would look good on you. Print the pix and take them to the stylist...verbal descriptions leave a lot of room for misinterpretation. Also, if you see someone with a similar cut that you like, ask them who did their hair. Stylist, like other creative people, have 'long suits', things they are good in. Some are great at short hair cutting, not so good with long. Some are great with coloring hair, so-so at cutting, etc. That's why seeing a hair cut that you like and finding the stylist that cut is is so beneficial. Good luck!Hair stylists only: How would I tell a hair dresser how to cut my hair like this?
I can't wait to see your new hair!
print the picture out, and show it to them.
Print out pictures of what you want. I would recommend that you skip GreatClips and go to a professional salon where the stylists are more adept to understand what you want. Show your stylist the pictures, and explain to her what it exactly is that you like about each picture (length, bangs, coloring, etc.) She/he will most likely be able to interpet these pictures to prefection on your own hair.

Also, during the appointment, don't be afraid to speak up while the stylist is hacking away and ask for changes...otherwise you'll be left with a 'do' you didn't want for the next 5 months, lol HIH
the first picture pretty much looks like how my hair is cut. my stylist put long layers in it. you could probably just say ';i want my hair layered'; it would probably come out how you want it. but to get it to look pretty much exactly how you want it, get a picture. sometimes getting your hair cut a certain way wont look exactly like the picture you bring in though, it all depends on how the stylist interprets the picture, how thick your hair is, where you natural wave is (if you have one), and how short you cut it.
I would just print out this picture and bring the picture in so your stylists can see exactly how you want your hair.
    lol.thats the ';rachel';

just print the picture and show your stylist.
Print out the picture and give it to the stylists.

Say you want long choppy layers with choppy side bangs.

Also, point to the things you really like in the picture.
    bring your hairdresser a picture
I'm not a hairstylist, but with some experience

in going to salons, I easily hand them the picture

and work with them by talking it out.

If you want a shorter length, say so.

If you want different bangs, say so.

You just have to be cooperative in order

for the hairdresser to do it right.
Bring the picture in with you and they should be able to help you and they will ask you what lenght you want etc. Let them know that you want their opinion and some help talk to them about it before hand.

A lot of layers, cut it about that length(if you have longer hair) With heavy side bangs. How do i ask my hair dresser what hair style i want?
    I have the same cut!!

Ask her to cut your hair right uner your shoulders or whatever long you want. Then aske her to make lost and lost of layers on your hair, from short ones(about 2 and half inches), and longer. For your bangs, they have to be cut right underyour eye, it may seem long, but when your hair is dry, you'll see the difference. Also, your bangs must not have an straight cut, they have to be in an angle and tell the hairdresser to what side you put your hair so she'll style it to that side.
First off, your hair stylist won't take you seriously if the picture is from myspace so try as hard as you can to find a picture from a magazine of a girl that has that same hairstyle and cut it out or bring the magazine with you on your next visit. If you can't do that, you'll have to stick with the picture from myspace and print it out and show your hairstylist, hopefully she won't laugh in your face, and you'll come out of that salon with a smile on your face!
I'd tell them that you want it layered.. in a long bob type style.

Hair dressers usually have books with tonnes of hair styles in. Just ask to have a look through them before you get your hair cut and point out styles that are the same or similar to the one you want.

And don't be afraid to criticize while your hair dresser is cutting your hair! They prefer you do, rather than going home unhappy.
show her this picture, they have internet at the hair dresser. :D

go to the store and get natural instincts. the color you should use is med.neutral blonde and leave it all over your head for about 20 min. it makes you hair feel great and the color will go alittle darker. if the front is to white you can still put it all over the whole head. it will darken it but make it look more natural, without it being to dark. although the directions don't say this-but apply it to toweled dry hair so the bottle can saturate your whole head. it will blend in the old hi-lites and the new. hope it works!

What should I ask the hair dresser for something like this?

I'm getting my hair cut in a couple weeks. A week after I get my Sedu flat iron :D

Anyway, I've chosen a cut and kind of have to sneak it in to the hair dresser because my mother doesn't like me having a lot of hair cut off at once.

What would I tell the hair dresser to achieve something like this? It has to be able to be tied back into a ponytail (I have to flip it up into a hair net and into a helmet for horse riding) so I have to tell her that too.

Thanks =)What should I ask the hair dresser for something like this?
print the pictures take them with you

if you dont want to do that

ok tell her to cut you hair shoulder length with a few layers starting at your jaw line and that you want heavy side bangs

i dont know if you want the streaks, but if you do just tell her you want blonde streaks throughout your hair and for them to go through the bangs too.

best thing would be to bring the pics in thoughWhat should I ask the hair dresser for something like this?
bring in the 2 pictures and show them to the hairdresser. most of them know how to work from pictures. and the style looked long enough to put in a ponytail, as long as you don't get too many layers in it.

basically, just tell her exactly what you told us. she'll know what to do. she did go to college to do this stuff, after all.
    bring in these picture

and definetly describe it how you have described it here
    Bring her the pictures. If for whatever reason you cannot bring the pictures, just say ';scene hair.';
Take her the pictures. That's your best bet, because her idea of ';scene hair'; may not be the same as these pictures or your idea...
you should say that you want a fringe and that you want a razor cut! and then just tell her like the length of your hair and all the lairs that you want!
i like the second one better
bring the pictures to the hairdresser!
print out the pictures and show it to your hairdresser. and remember to use sign language, because your hair dresser doesn't exactly understand what an inch means for you, she will think two inches. so just show it to her , how you want your hair to be.
i am a stylist and its best described simply as shoulder length with short razored layers and a razored side bang... make sure you schedule with someone who knows how to do a razor cut because thats the only way you will get that effect!
print the pictures, and tell the hairdresser, what you wnat from the pics...by the way, that girl in the second picture is really cute, do you know her?
You should be able to show him/her both photos and they should be able to go from there. When I cut my hair short, all I had to do was bring the photo in. If your hair stylist can't figure things out from a photo, you really need a new stylist.

By the way, you may want to reconsider if your mom is not okay with this style. If she doesn't like the photo, what do you think she's going to do when you traipse from the beauty salon with that haircut on your head?
Print out the pics and take them with you.

Then point out what you want from each picture.
I'm a nursing asstaint and i got that same haircut... i also needed to keep it back in a ponytail for work, but that was impossiblethe sides always came down on my face, keep that in mind, but like most have said bring the photos..or look through the books there see if they have a picute of the style if youcan't print is out. But you should talk to you mom about it...just tell her it'll grow back, but it is your hair.
    second
Why dont you just print out those pictures and bring them with you when you get your hair cut. I too ride horses and you might want to go at least shoulder lenght or longer to make sure you can put it in the ponytail.
    I have that hair.

    ^^

just tell ehr you want longish bangs and really choppy.

The best place to get an inexpensive cut is to go to a Beauty School that has a salon for the public.

Many hairstyling school offer full services at the best rates you will find. The students are senior students close to graduating and they are supervised by instructors with years of experience.

It's a better option than Magicuts or similar places in my opinion.

Here's a link for schools in your area:

If you want someone good. You are going to need to pay. Not much a way around that. If you see someone with a good cut you like. Ask where she had it done.
search, beauty schools in your area, then call them and ask for a student to give you a cut, the instructor wont let them mess up , thay can do very trendy stuff and it wont cost you hardly anything
Beauty Colleges. Ask for persons with most experience.

What is standard tip amount for hair dresser and manicurist?

I usually tip 20% but was told by someone i over tip. What is standard tip amount for hair dresser and manicurist?
20% is a great tip.... You don't have to tip a salon owner though. What is standard tip amount for hair dresser and manicurist?
I was a hairdresser for many years! We don't make an hourly wage, the majority of our income comes from tips. 20% is not too much, when I have to get my hair done If I really like the cut and had a relaxing shampoo and it was a good overall experience then the tip should reflect it... I give a minimum of $5.00 If you are getting a chemical service and it takes 2-3 hrs you have to stop and think that this person is spending their time and attention on you to make you feel better about yourself and if you are leaving there feeling great then the tip should show it... minimum of 10.00
I do 20% too. I've read the standard is more like 15%, but I think you should NEVER undertip anyone who has the power to make you look ugly. :P
five to ten bucks depending on how well they do!!
15-20% is standard. I always tip 20% because I am in the industry. If you ever receive a service for free, you should tip 40-50% of what the service would of cost. I hope that helps.

  • Need to know best hair care for black woman and tips on how to make hair grow when can't go to hair dresser

My hair is thin shoulder length.I use motions hair products please helpNeed to know best hair care for black woman and tips on how to make hair grow when can't go to hair dresser
Wash and deep condition at least once a week. Limit use of curling irons and flat irons. Limit blow drying, it's best to use rollers and sit under a hooded dryer. Wrap hair at night with a silk or satin scarf to prevent breakage. Relax hair every six weeks and make sure to have ends trimmed. Do not use a lot of grease or oil in your hair either, it will weigh it down. I only grease my scalp after washing.Need to know best hair care for black woman and tips on how to make hair grow when can't go to hair dresser
because it is shoulder length the best thing you can do is do protective styles that keep your hair off of your shoulder. it's hard to get past this length because the hair is always rubbing against things; therefore, causing splits/breakage in the hair. if your hair is relaxed then motions is a great brand to be using
You can use this hair growth stuff my sister used and it works really good and yea it is for black ppl lol I think its called miracle gro somethin like dat

I have thick 3-4'; wavy/curly hair. When I get it cut next, should I let the hair dresser use thinning shears?

I am concerned that when the hair is thinned it causes frizziness or smaller hairs fraying out of curls.I have thick 3-4'; wavy/curly hair. When I get it cut next, should I let the hair dresser use thinning shears?
when they thin your hair it doesn't cause any of that stuff.. like frizziness.

so yeah, i think you'll be fine if they use thinning shears.I have thick 3-4'; wavy/curly hair. When I get it cut next, should I let the hair dresser use thinning shears?
I have exactly the same hair style, only a little longer. I have some moderately thick hair as well, so I like to get the thinners out on occasion so it feels a bit lighter (esp. in summer). Be forewarned however, that they do cause frizziness. But it's not grotesque.

How can I make the best money as a hair dresser?

So your a hairdresser. So from me to you as being one as well. Its going to be your color services, straightening services and girl push those products. If you keep yourself educated with color techniques and products you will be successful. Make yourself different from every other hairstylist out there, whether it be with your cutting or even incorporating dimensional colors and i promise clients will want you. Trust me educate yourself and even offer to your clients with your business cards a discount for every third person they refer. give every client at least three cards. It works!

well I am a MA and have decided to go to cosmetology school also. (Doctors offices wasn't for me) The school I am going to try to go to is like 12,000 which is really really high compared to most(5-7 thousand). I have found out by talking to the school that different states may require different hours example.... My state requirement is 1500 hrs which will take a year to complete. Just type in your state and and cosmetology requirement i.e ';Florida state cosmetology License requirements. I am nervous to start cosmetology but I'm gonna do it anyways. Being a medical assistant and doing hair are so different but this is what I want. I too was going for my RN and decided just to get my MA and now after graduating and working I know where I want to be. I hope the best!

What is the best shoe for hair dresser since we have to stand whole day.?

Ugg slippers! Or just normal Uggs. But you'd have to be careful to to spill anything on them. Really, it just depends on what type of shoe feels good on your feet. I bet Crocs would be good since they're so lightweight, and if you spill on them it will wash right off. Hope this helps! Corcs don't give you any support. And that is what you need if your on your feet all day. Can I open up a hair salon if I'm not a hair dresser?

I want to hire hair dressers and estheticians but I want to run the place. Is that possible? Have you ever seen it done, or does the owner/manager always have to be a hair dresser? Can I open up a hair salon if I'm not a hair dresser?
    Of course you can.

If you look at most businesses, the manager does not do the work. They MANAGE the business...ie decision making.

However, if you are not a hair dresser yourself, then you'd have to hire one..obviously =p

It HELPS that you have the skills to work the business from the start, coz usually for most new businesses the only employee is...you.

However, that doesn't mean that if you personally can't work the business, that you can't start it.

Hope I helpedCan I open up a hair salon if I'm not a hair dresser?
You can be the manager. You'll need a license to do the hair yourself.
In the salon I go to, the owner isn't a hair stylist.
Yes, you can actually own a salon and not be a licensed stylist, but then you have to have a manager who is and can run the salon and know all about the rules and laws...etc... It would be a good idea to get more information on this before you get too involved though! Good luck! One of the salons I had worked in was owned by a fellow who wasn't a stylist but he eventually sold it to the assistant manager who is running it now on her own!
Do you really want to run a business with a high turn over rate? Take it from me I am a hair dresser and we have a high turn over rate. Everytime we lose stylists we lose clientele. People don't like to try new people, when they find someone they like to stick to that person, and when they leave, they don't want to try anyone else. If you are going to open a hair salon be prepared to make it your life. It is hard work managing a salon and employees. Discover the hidden costs. Employee taxes, payroll, overhead like rent, utilities. Insurance to cover your customers in case of an accident. There is a lot of things that people don't take into consideration when opening a business.
I think you should get a license or a degree or somthing.Because if you mess up someone's hair they can sue you and get PAID!
I think you can but what happens when you have no workers and you don't know anything about hair-dressing.

  • I need a new haircut, but need pics to show my hair dresser!?

I have long brown hair, and definitely need a new hair cut. I have looked all over the internet, and can't find quite what I want. I see all these girls walking around with the cutest hair but just can't find them on internet. It would help if maybe you could show me some really cute shoulder length hair cuts, preferably with bangs. Showing your own hair would be great!! Celeb hair is hard to copy :PI need a new haircut, but need pics to show my hair dresser!?
My hair at the moment is longer than sholder length and I don't do bangs. But you could go with a bob with bangs (very cute selena gomez like) or an asymetrical bob (like paris hilton had). Or you could get it layered (like jennifer aniston only with bangs). And reese witherspoon has great sholderish length hair with bangs. Any of those would work and I am sure you can find pictures of these on google.I need a new haircut, but need pics to show my hair dresser!?
I'd advise not cutting your hair short unless you've fully thought it through (:

I had long hair around this time last year and then cut it short and regretted it for a while.. :\

but if you know what you want! here's a picture of me when I first got it cut, there's nothing much too it. I just got my faced framed out and fixed up my side-swept bangs.

I cut my bangs shorter and more ';chic'; in the second photo and I got some shorter layers added in, my hair is a little shorter too..

Can brown hair be dyed blond at the hair dresser's?

my natural hair color is blond but at the moment it is a darkish chocolate brown colour. If I went to a hairdresser's, would they be able to dye it blond permanantly? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question. Thank you in advance! Can brown hair be dyed blond at the hair dresser's?
They can dye it blond but it could get expensive to have your whole head done, you may be better off getting a blond T section which is where they streak the top part of your hair blond to give you a lighter effect but when it starts to grow out it wont look tacky.

Go to a very reputable hairdresser they will advise you in every way you need if they are good.

Can brown hair be dyed blond at the hair dresser's?
Yes they can, I have naturally brown hair and got it to bleached blonde. It was permanent and the colour never faded when washed. If you are having a strong colour like bleach on it I would advise you to leave your hair several days without being washed as greasy-ish hair will stop the dye stinging your scalp so much.
yes they use a bleach to take the colour away and then they use slightly different tones of blond to make it look more natural. But never do what I did when i was younger and let anybody other than a professional hairdresser do it because you might end up looking like tony the tiger like i did hope that helps.
Yes, a hairdresser can do it. It's much easier to lighten than it is to darken, because the dark color will fade. Peroxide is used to dye the hair blonde and that's permanent.
yes, defo. what they do is they bleach your hair (strip the colour) and then they will dye it.

    good luck
    LOL

    obviously..
    obviously they can...
    yes, probably .
    Yes, or course.

    yes

How Many Use Their Nail Tech/Hair Dresser As a Therapist?

I am a nail technician and I have to tell you. I feel like I should be charging 100.00 an hour for all the stuff that is plopped on my lap throughout the day. Don't get me wrong. I consider it a great blessing that people share so much with me and that they value my ideas to help them through these things, but it makes me wonder, ';How many people out choose their nail techs and hair stylists based on how well they ';listen'; and advise? How Many Use Their Nail Tech/Hair Dresser As a Therapist?
I don't, but my hair dresser uses me as her personal therapist. At least you have it a little better, I have to advise her for free, plus I'm still paying her $40!How Many Use Their Nail Tech/Hair Dresser As a Therapist?
i am also a nail tech and i hear ya..i go home with so much on my mind,, cheating problems, health problems etc etc etc...we really should charge 100.00 dollars an hour for how much stuff we get thrown at us..i to am glad these clients have me to talk to and trust me enough to talk to...i hear yeah on the whole thing and if you talk to any nail tech they say the same thing..i could write a book with all that i know,,,i never would but i could lol...good luckk
    You know, you might be a better therapist than the ones charging $100 because you actually are a real person, instead of a cold, distant therapist who has ';boundaries.';

Give me your number and I will pay you instead! LOL...
i'd say a hair dresser/nail tech's ability to listen and their ';people skills'; are more valuable to most clients than their ability to do hair/nails.....i can't tell you how many times i had women in my chair who were depressed/crying/anxious when they sat down and left feeling great (sometimes they even tell you that they dont' need their hair done, they just want to feel better!).....a good hairdresser/nailtech knows to keep all those secrets to themself too....and you're right...it is a blessing to have people think so highly of you!!

How should i tell the hair dresser to make my hair like this?

I have mullet, so i want to make bunches of them proffessionally, how can i tell the hair dresser to work on my mullet like that?

i dont know what it is called thats why i cant explain it clearly either. How should i tell the hair dresser to make my hair like this?
take a picture if you can. but if you can draw it or explain it....always explain it aswell. dont worry if you dont know what its called, these hairdressers are used to customers who dont know what they are on about lol

but after youve explained it, ask them to explain and show you before they mess your beautiful mullet up!

    good luck bab!

Whats the difference between a Beautician* and a Hair Dresser?

And Where can i find a beautician?

lol thanksWhats the difference between a Beautician* and a Hair Dresser?
Hiardresser does your hair and Beautician does other bits of your body, e.g waxing, nail painting, facials, makeup, tanning, it should be easy to find places if your look through the yellow pages.Whats the difference between a Beautician* and a Hair Dresser?
a beautician does things with your body while a hairdresser only does your hair.
a beautician does manicure/pedicures/waxing etc while a hairdresser styles/cuts (etc) your hair
They are the same. For some reason, the name keep changing.
I don't think there is a difference, a COSMETOLOGIST...which you must have a license for to legally do hair...learns how to do hair, make-up, nails, facials, etc. A beutician is just a fancy name...
A hairdersser cuts, colours etc hair..

A beautician waxes, pampers, does facials, massages etc.

Where is there a good hair dresser?

I just moved to Boston and i need to find a new hair dresser nothing too expensive but i still want to look goodWhere is there a good hair dresser?
You ask anyone and everyone you know. If you see someone with a really good cut, or style, or colour, or anything else you like... just go up and ask them. They will be glad to tell you. Word of mouth is the best advertising. Getting a personal recommendation is worth much more than anything else you can do.Where is there a good hair dresser?
look for a john roberts salon near you, they have absolutely awesome hairdressers and nice products. they're a tad expensive, but soo worth it.

  • For people with mixed kids (part black): Is it hard to find a hair dresser?

Just wondering. Particularly asian/black, pacific islander/black and hispanic/black couples. Is it difficult to find someone that can do your daughter's hair? For people with mixed kids (part black): Is it hard to find a hair dresser?
Yes it is,im african, asian, anglo and european and grew up in australia it was near impossible to go to any hairdresser in my district, everyone I went to had no idea what to do with my very very thick black curlyish/wild hair.

I ALWAYS ended up going to a middle eastern/lebanese hairdresser they had hair the same as mine and knew how to do it. I also look more like them so they knew what would suit me.For people with mixed kids (part black): Is it hard to find a hair dresser?
    I'm black/cherokee/puertorican/white

I go to Dominican Salons only, and I have a few family members and friends (hispanic or black) that go to them also. I just cannot go to an African-American stylist. When they see my hair they immediate freak out. I have very long curly hair down to my waste, its not really kinky, but tangleseasily, and they refuse to do my hair before even touching it first. And they immediatly assume that I must be tender-headed, which I am NOT. So, I do my own hair, or when I DO go to a salon, I go to the Dominicans. And when I do my hair I use hair gel, Leave-ins, or mousse thats all i need really. Also when I was younger I would get my hair straightened alot and my mom would do it, or my stylist would straighten it with a blow-drier
Not always. My mother is a hair stylist and she works with many mixed kids at our salon in our house. The ones she works with usually have wavy or straight hair. Those hair types can be easily worked with by any trained stylist. But then again, those kids were half-Somali, and Somalis don't usually tend to have kinky hair - just curly, wavy, or straight.
My lil cuz is black/Puerto rican and her hair is real easy to do. Her mom combs it out, as painful as it is getting all the tangles out and washes it. She (my aunt) doesn't really care much for shampoos and stuff for mixed kids cause the regular stuff works just as well. After washing she combs it out and styles it while its semi wet. Sorry if it doesn't make sense.
    lol

    no

    My niece is Jamacican/Dominican

and her grandma does her hair

    ((her grandma owns a salon))

    But she didnt really come out with ';bad hair';

    Its curly and long
go to a spanish/latina salon they do it best and cheapist. black salons do it good the hair style last longer but it cost more.
