That could be hard to answer because if a person works at say, Supercuts, they are paid hourly by the company plus they get tips. If they rent a chair at a salon, they get paid a lot more per each haircut, but may not get very many customers per week, depending on their clientele.
My friend has been cutting hair for about a year and rents a chair. She makes about $30 per hour but doesn't have a very big clientele yet so she isn't making very much right now.
But if a person's lucky they can rent a chair at a salon with a lot of walk-ins and make a lot of money each day!
