How much does a hair dresser make?

I am planning on attending cosmetology school in the fall and I'm just trying to figure out how much I will be making once I master the trade. I know there's chair rental, commission and hourly.


Can anyone help me to better understand how it all works?





How much is average rent on a chair and how much do products cost a month?





And if you get paid commission, do you get paid an hourly rate on top of that?

some salons actually dont have a chair rental. commission is usually any where from 20 to 50% depending on the salonHow much does a hair dresser make?
It depends... if you work near a city, in a popular salon then you'll make more than if you work at a regular salon in a smaller town. I know someone that is a master hair stylist right outside of NYC and makes 6 figures.
