My wife is AA and she wants to get a texturizer but from what I have learned, it is just a relaxer in mild strength which she already used. She stopped relaxing so she can go natural but she cannot manage her new growth. She wants a looser curl pattern. Is there any texturizer or natural curl loosener she can use? thanks.African American hair dressers question about texturizers...?
If she is trying to go natural than she shouldn't use a texturizer, it damages natural hair as well (just like a chemical relaxer) only it doesn't completely straighten it. Coconut/lime is really good, I'm not sure if they are safe though because they are really acidic. The product line that I purchase fom has a product similar to a texturizer only it just makes new growth more manageable, it's all natural and designed for black women. The Curls By Nature helps as well. All of the products help in managing natural hair (new growth) in my opinion. I'm white and didn't now how to make my daughters 4a 4b hair manageable but these products really helped for me.

texturizers are like mild relaxers except it's a completely different chemical. since she is trying to go natural she should really just try to push it out before she decides to start using a texturizer or perm. it will take some time to learn how to manage her natural hair texture and she will eventually have to cut off the processed hair, which will make things a little easier. has she considered getting her hair braided? there are also twists or weaves. if she doesn't want to do that, she can try braid outs to blend the textures. or she can get her new growth straightened at the salon. a dominican salon will do it best, though it is damaging. the only thing that comes close to a natural curl loosener is a coconut milk %26amp; lime relaxer and this thing called a caramel treatment. i'm not too sure how they work or if they are safe though.
