I go to the Olive Garden on occassion. Am I supposed to tip the lady who brings out my food and rings me up? She's not really a waitress but she looks at me like she expects a tip. She's more like a cashier than anything.
What about hair dressers? I know they don't make a lot. So if my haircut is $16 or such, I give a 2 or $3 tip.Are you supposed to tip hair dressers 15%? What about waitresses at the To-Go restaurants?
Tipping is getting out of control isn't it? The restaurants really have it good I think. They can get by paying their waitresses little to nothing because they get to count on your tipping. Waitresses have to pay taxes based on what the state ';thinks'; they should have made in tips due to the fact they think waitresses are not reporting all their tips. All waitresses do not report everything they make, they could not afford to be waitresses, but if you stiff a waitress, she pays tax on it anyway. It is a horrible system isn't it? I usually top 20% just becuase I ahve been a waitress. They do have to clean up messes...now in buffet places, not near that, a buck or 2 I think will do. But if you cannot aford it, you cannot aford it. As far a hairdresser and I have been that too...when I worked for someoen else, then I was happy to get a tip, but when I owned my own salon I never accepted tips. I made money from them anyway. Are you supposed to tip hair dressers 15%? What about waitresses at the To-Go restaurants?
I don't tip a waitress but ask her out for a dinner. She might be bored smelling the same food!!
Do you also tip the people working at McDonalds ect?... I dont tip cause their just doing their job.
I personally don't tip. One because I don't have the extra money and two because the job of the waitress is to serve the customer(me) why should I pay you extra?? If i'm in a good mood and the service was beyond extraordinary, maybe I will. Tip if you want to. If you don't or don't have a lot of extra money, don't worry about it.
I know I'll probably get a lot of thumbs down, but it's my right to choose to tip or not.
I only tip if I have extra money. The food is too expensive anyway
if we start tipping those people who do very little for us, we'll have to start tipping that guy that opens the door for us at the hotel. the job of the hairdresser is to cut our hair. we shouldn't tip people for doing their job. we tip waitresses because they have to clean up our messes. other people don't need tips.
