Ive dyed my hair for 15 years with permanent hair dye due to hereditry early greying.
Im 35 and not ready to go grey, however its coming through quicker and quicker, so im dying my hair every 3 weeks with loreals darkest brown.
I would like to go blond in the hope the grey wont be so noticable so wont need to dye as often.
Could i dye my hair blond after 15 years of dark brown?? Would it just go ginger/ orange??Just hair dressers answer please :O) Hair dye question??
you CANNOT just use a dye to turn your hair dyed brown to blonde - it does not work that way!!! you need to firstly use a colour remover like Goldwell system hair color remover: http://www.goldwellusa.com/products/hair/a> in order to remove the unnatural dyed pigment from the hair, then you will need to use a bleach kit. do NOT use a single process OTC kit like ';Blondissimes'; it relys solely on peroxide for lift which only has a lifting ability of 2 shades maximum so it would take roughly 5 times in order to get blonde from dark brown (it may not even get it that light at all) which is different to a bleach kit that removes natural pigment, bleach kits contain persulfates (bleach) ASWELL as peroxide in order to lift the hair up to 7 shades each time, but you need to bear in mind that hair WILL go orange / ginger on it's way to pale yellow, i cannot stress it to people enough to bear in mind that hair DOES go through stages of orange / ginger on the way to pale yellow http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/8565//a> (pale yellow is the shade you need to bleach to in order to achieve light blonde hair, under no circumstances should you try and bleach your hair to white - this is a HUGE no, no - white means you have bleached too far and your hair WILL break, light blonde is achieved via bleaching to the pale yellow stage and then using a blonde toner) please also bear in mind that once bleach is mixed with peroxide and is exposed to air then it slowly deteriorates and then becomes completely inactive after 90 mins so once the mixture has been on your hair 90 mins then you will need to rinse it off and if your hair isn't pale yellow then mix a fresh batch and re-apply. spot bleach the darkest areas first, if your roots hit pale yellow then avoid going over them with bleach, just bleach the darker areas ONLY. once you have a uniform pale yellow tone then it is time for the toner, there are many different toners ranging from temporary to permanent but true toners are designed for use on bleached hair i.e. NOT a single process OTC dye. Born blonde toners are good: http://www.alltoiletries.com/shared/cate/a> aswell as and my current favourite Clairol creme toner: http://www.clairolpro.com/files/swatches/a>Just hair dressers answer please :O) Hair dye question??
dont just do a box dye for blonde and try to go straight from a dark brown to a blonde. it wont go right. u would have to go in stages its less damaging that way also. my hair stylist did that for me and it look about 6 months 2 get it to the color i wanted having an appointment every 6 weeks! i would go 2 a salon u would get the best results that way! good luck!
what debby said about the hair stripper is really really bad for ur hair! it can make ur hair fall out. i no a girl that did it and had to stop after a couple of minutes cuz her hair was coming out in clumps! dont do it that way!
you would need to bleach it first to strip off the color and die your hair a darker blonde. if you then wish to loghten y=up your blonde you may.
however, bleching does alot of damage. damage you dont need at 35. i would suggest you die your hair your prefered shade of brown and use a root-touch up.
To do it fast, you will need to buy a hair stripper to remove the color, then use a lightener and a toner on it. Sally's Beauty Supply will have everything you need.
you would probably have to bleach it first, otherwise you wont get the color that you want.
hope i helped =]
