i read you can use a flat iron that will kill the adults adn the nits (cuz of the heat) HOWEVER shes TWO!! she has more hair than average 2 yr old (down tomiddle of her back and its thick and wavy) but silky and beautiful and she gets sooo many compliments.... i do NOT want to hurt her hair... should i try to do a quick flat iron for precautionary measures or no?Hair dressers help! my 2 yr old has lice and i did all the precautionary measures (shampoo, metal nit comb BUT
OKay, My sister has ahir like this and she aslo has hair that is resistant to traditional lice treatments, but what worked for her was this...
Olive Oil all over the head and then covered in a shower cap. Leave the oil and shower cap on all night and then wash thoroughly in the morning... it may take a few tries to get all the oil out. Repeat the treatment for about 3-5-days. Mayonaisse can be substituted for Olive Oil. The point is you are suffocating the lice, and they have no guard against this.
I was told by a few different pediatricians that Lice Treatments are not working on a lot of kids now... That the lice have basically become immune to the chemicals and it isn't safe to raise the dosage.
I promise this is true, as strange as it sounds, sometimes the ';old'; way of doing things just works better.
Good Luck and I hope that you get your little girls beautiful hair back. :)
PS: Lice Have NOTHING to do with cleanliness, infact, the cleaner the hair the easier it is for lice to stick to the shaft. Everyone Above is RIGHT about keeping the bedding washed and dryed... you don't want to pass it back and forth with no end in sight.Hair dressers help! my 2 yr old has lice and i did all the precautionary measures (shampoo, metal nit comb BUT
I remember sitting for hours picking the crawlies out of my daughter's thick long hair, she was also 2 years old. The only real way of stopping the problem is finding the source and getting everyone treated as I'm sure you know. I've used every lotion and potion but find that the only real winner is to sit and pick them out. I also find that using a tea tree conditioner helps them not to come back.
my friend just went thru this with her kids. i would suggest calling the pediatrician and finding out how often you can use the kit on her first. then you need to bag all of her stuffed animals, pillows, and even bag the mattress(you can get the mattress bags at walmart). you have to seal everything cloth and spray that stuff that comes in the nix kit to kill those things. it's not easy and it takes up to two weeks for them to die when you bag that stuff.
i wouldn't try the flat iron. but remember that using the kit too often can burn her scalp and make sores so call the doctor if you've treated her more than once already.
graind some neem leaves or oil and apply it on her hair where the lies will die and also the licks.it will clear any dandruff and also the itch caused by them.
Use the shampoo as directed, and keep changing her bedding while being treated. Vacuum or clean; any garment she wore (jackets, etc.), throw pillows and other items that may have come in contact with her hair to avoid re contaminating. I wouldn't risk damaging the fragile hair of a child with the iron. My 3 children had an episode of lice infestation....that metal comb gives you a much deeper understanding of the expression ';nit picking', doesn't it? I was a hair stylist..went into nursing. Good luck!
change her shampoo or go to drug store. ask them a medicine for that or a shampoo that will remove lice on hair.
clean her hair everyday because it expose in many dirt and heat. put some oil that will help. proper hygiene is a must
the best thing is to comb regularly with the nit comb, thats the best way and is far better than putting lotions and potions on her little head many of which are toxic chemicals! Stick to combing, you may have to do it a couple of times a day but it will work! I know I had a hell of a time when my two girls were younger, they wenbt to a school for a while where nits were rife! Stick with the combing!
no flat iron is needed just make sure you clean the house with the spray iron your beds gently and wash wash wash wash her Hair with the shampoo and keep combin lots of work but its better then tryin something that might not work the lice should be gone after the second wash and make sure u find the source of where the lice came from or she might come home again with it lice love clean hair to live in so shes prolly a perfect candidate
Ask doctor for kwell or it is Qwell shampoo. You must get lice spray for evething and wash bedding in hot water and dry very hot everthing has to be scrubbed what a nightmare and no Im not a hairdresser. I had to cut my one daughters hair short we just couldnt get all the lice out. more treatments might be needed what a nightmare.
