It depends on the salon.



Some salons will take half of what you make. So say you make $200 that day...you get $100 and the salon will get $100. That $100 will go to supplies for the salon, color, rent, electric, etc. So you don't have to worry about getting your open shampoo or products or anything like that...just make money lol.



Other salons will have you rent out a chair at their salon. Meaning...You get to keep all the money you make but you have to pay a certain amount of money each money to work there..just like rent which pays for rent and electric, but you have to buy all your shampoo, conditioner, products, color, etc.



The pluses about working at a salon that takes half your paycheck is you don't have to worry about how much color or shampoo your using, the salon does their own advertising..so the clients just come to you, you don't have to go find them. Also, they usually have a receptionist who makes all your appointments and confirms them..which is one less thing you have to worry about.



I would only recommend working in a salon where you rent out a chair to stylist that already have a clientele and have been working in the business for several years because they already know the ins and outs and are pretty settled.



Also, it all depends on you on how much you make....you only and its a tough business but i love it!

The more experienced ones make about 拢20,000 pounds a year but it depends on your abilities and level of experience.
