Hair dressers help! my 2 yr old has lice and i did all the precautionary measures (shampoo, metal nit comb BUT

i read you can use a flat iron that will kill the adults adn the nits (cuz of the heat) HOWEVER shes TWO!! she has more hair than average 2 yr old (down tomiddle of her back and its thick and wavy) but silky and beautiful and she gets sooo many compliments.... i do NOT want to hurt her hair... should i try to do a quick flat iron for precautionary measures or no?Hair dressers help! my 2 yr old has lice and i did all the precautionary measures (shampoo, metal nit comb BUT
A flat iron used once or twice is not going to noticeably damage her hair. How ever I don't know how effective that would be considering the fact that lice and eggs tend to be towards the scalp which is a very difficult are to get to with a flat iron. I suggest a hot oil treatment or even just applying olive oil to the hair for 24 hours. This is very effective in killing lice and also is not damaging to the hair but good for the hair. You should do this about every 7 days until you are sure the lice and all the eggs are gone. Lice shampoo is very dangrous. It can cause brain damage and cancer and is generally not recomended for young children anyway.

**** another/ option is tea tree oil which also is not harmful to the hair but beneficial and helps treat liceHair dressers help! my 2 yr old has lice and i did all the precautionary measures (shampoo, metal nit comb BUT
You can put Crisco or peanut butter on her head and leave it there for a few days. This will suffocate all the adult lice, but you will still have the problem of the nits. They will eventually hatch and maybe even lay more eggs before you can kill them as adults. I would not use a flat iron on a 2 year old. I know you desperately don't want to shave your daughter's beautiful hair. So try the Crisco and see if that helps. Maybe even see the doctor. But be aware that she is potentially spreading the lice to everyone in the house and even out in public the longer she has them. I would make a move quickly. Shaving is a last resort! (But you just might have to go there.)
I have a 8yr old girl with thick curly hair! I tried everything as well but nothing I tried worked, until I found an electric lice comb, I live in New Zealand so over here they are $39.95 which is about 15 ponds for you, they are great! they kill all the eggs and lice! you don't need to wet the hair, just section into small areas and comb! Its the best way I think for a small girl, you don't want to get lice shampoo in her eyes nor shave her head! That's not good for anyone at any age! lol. visit www.sc-auctions.com this is a hirdressing and beauty website which may have something to help you.
Shave it! Get it all at once. It will grow back. But if it as thick and wavy as you say, you will end up hurting her more trying all these remedies than just shaving it off.
My friend put a mixture of vinegar and mayonaise on her hair and all over her scalp and then put a shower cap or a plastic hair net over it and left it on for about a day and it killed off everything on her head. hope this helps!
