PLEASE HELP!!!
XCalling Hair Dressers!!! Please help me rescue and repair my combination damaged hair :(?
Try Aveda's Damage Remedy! It's an amazing product to help rebuild the condition of your hair. You'll want the Shampoo, conditioner, and treatment.
Also, shampoo your hair every other day. On the days you don't shampoo, put some powder (baby powder or hair powder, Bumble and Bumble make a great powder) in it to absorb the oil. After doing this for a while eventually you won't need the powder. You will be training your hair. It's not good to shampoo everyday anyways. All that's doing is stripping your hair of its natural oils causing your hair to over produce more to make up for what your removing and drying out the ends even more...Calling Hair Dressers!!! I know you say you can't wash it every day, but trust me you can.
Wash it every other day - when you do this it may look a bit greasy when you don't wash it but your hair will get used to it and less greasy.
Invest in a shampoo and conditioner from a sallys supply shop, or an expensive store brand which have proteins in them. I use organix because its sulphate free (so keeps colour) and has proteins (拢5 from boots). I use whatever colour care conditioner but you can get a good repairing one.
Get a deep treatment for weekly use, get one thats too thick for a bottle so comes in a tub. I use osmo essence from sallys, its quite good and reasonably priced.
Theres not way to get rid of damage, but if you use a protein treatment/hot oil treatment/intensive conditioner it can cover it for about a week or so. I'd go to sallys for these really - or another professional store.
Use a lower heat to style - damaged hair requires less heat to curl/straighten. Blow dry on the cool setting and use heat protectants EVERY time (tresemme spray is good, 拢4 and lasts ages). And try not to bleach hair - semi permanent dye is less damaging too.
first things first, stop washing daily! this is why you ave combination hair, by washing to often you are stripping your scalp of the oils it needs. in turn, it just produces more oils, making your second day hair look greasy at the roots, all the while drying out your ends.
i know it is hard to deal with greasy roots, but make it work for you. try doing something with the front of your hair to camouflage it (like using a barrette to clip back the front in a bouffant, braiding it, twisting it back with bobby pins, whatever.)
i promise, if you stick to washing your hair every OTHER day you will see a change in the overall appearance. also try sticking to lightweight conditioners at first. if you can't manage that, put conditioner ONLY on the ends of your hair. also when you shower on the days You are NOT going to be washing your hair, use a shower cap. letting your hair get moist and then drying again will add to it's ';greasy'; appearance.
as for the heat damage, again, just stop cold turkey! if your hair is wild and unruly, at the very least make it a point to let it air dry after a shower. shower the night before and then in the morning work on making your hair look presentable. if you have to use a blow dryer or flat iron, make sure you start with a heat protectorate for your hair. again, spraying product on the roots of your hair (or any of it) adds weight and gunk to it that will make it look greasy the next day. the better bet to tame your mane would be to try twisting it before bed (once it has air dried) with rag rollers or a simple scrunchie. you can even try braiding it. something that will give it some structure and use your own natural body heat to make it stay in place. also, for the blow drier, use it on the cool setting to check when your hair is truly dry (sometimes when it is hot it feels dry but really isn't)
no dye job looks good on wrecked hair. if you must change your look by changing your color, try using a semi permanent rinse dye. it coats (and stains) your hair instead of chemically penetrating it (which is what causes the damage.) also, by coating your hair it will give it a silkier appearance thus meaning less heat and product needed day to day. you can even try natural dyes like henna, which can produce very nice colors.
your hair is not the problem, it's the way you are treating it. be good to your hair and you will be a lot happier (and have a MUCH easier time getting ready in the morning.)
